CSTO Summit: Toqayev Speaks At Opening

Qasym-Jomart Toqayev spoke at the opening of the CSTO Collective Security Council session. Before that, he welcomed those attending.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasized that the CSTO is “not just a military partnership, but a unique mechanism that unites efforts and resources to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states.”
As the CSTO Chair, Kazakhstan has focused its efforts on strengthening close cooperation between member countries, increasing the effectiveness of mechanisms for rapid response to crisis situations, and developing the capabilities of our organization in the fight against modern threats, including terrorism, cyberattacks, transnational crime, and drug trafficking, said Qasym-Jomart Toqayev.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev stated that all the tasks during the Republic of Kazakhstan's chairing of the CSTO have been accomplished.
Several significant documents were adopted during the intersessional period. They cover issues of international cooperation, interaction in the defense sphere, as well as countering current challenges and threats to collective security. Special attention was paid to preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today, we will be presented with a corresponding statement by the Collective Security Council, he added.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev thanked his colleagues for their joint work.
He stated that the upcoming session will discuss the international and regional situations and assess their impact on the security of the CSTO member states.
We will also hear information about the work on a wide range of issues over the past period. Allow me, as the Chairperson, to declare the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council open, said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
