Criminal Group Neutralized in Almaty During Special Operation

Almaty law enforcement has neutralized a criminal group suspected of extortion, kidnapping, and other serious crimes, Orda.kz reports.
The operation was conducted by the Department for Combating Organized Crime in coordination with the National Security Committee (KNB) and the prosecutor’s office.
Several individuals were detained.
In one of the incidents, the perpetrators held a foreigner in a rented apartment, assaulted him and threatened him, demanding money. Under pressure, the victim gave them five million tenge. Facts of the detainees' participation in illegal conflicts have also been established,
said Kuandyk Alpys, a representative of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the operation, 25 searches were conducted, resulting in the seizure of seven pistols, ammunition, bladed weapons, and narcotics.
All suspects were placed in a temporary detention facility. Separate criminal cases have been opened for each episode.
