A criminal group caused more than 740 million tenge in losses to the state, according to Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency, reports Orda.kz.
Investigators say the group operated in the Aqtobe and West Kazakhstan regions, illegally registering semi-trucks using forged documents — including fake sales contracts and inspection reports — while inputting false data into the "Avtopoisk" vehicle tracking system.
In total, 77 trucks were fraudulently registered.
“The total damage to the state from unpaid initial registration fees exceeded 740 million tenge,” the agency said in a statement.
The group's alleged organizers have been placed in pre-trial detention, and the investigation is ongoing.
