As previously reported, a Ukrainian drone was intercepted seven kilometers from the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai — a key facility in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) that transports oil from Kazakhstan’s Tengiz field, Orda reports.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, debris from the drone fell near the Kavkazskaya railway station.

The CPC issued a statement condemning the incident:

The CPC team strongly condemns such actions, which not only undermine the foundations of global energy security, complicate the production processes of oil transporters and extractive companies, but also pose a threat to personnel, representatives of contractors, international civilian industrial facilities and the environment.

The consortium noted this was not the first attack this year. On March 19, drones targeted the Kavkazskaya station, and on February 17, the Kropotkinskaya station itself was struck.

After the shutdown of the Kropotkinskaya NPS, the volume of expected transportation for the year from the specified point was reduced, and after the destruction of the Kavkazskaya NPS, it will be impossible in the foreseeable future, the CPC said.

The consortium also stated that these attacks negatively impact its revenues and dividend payouts to all shareholders — including Kazakhstan and American companies.

Kropotkinskaya is the largest pumping station on Russian territory within the CPC. Restoration efforts at the facility are ongoing.
