The Alatau City Court in Almaty Region has rejected a petition filed by Nurasyl Bolat seeking a softer sentence. Bolat, the son of Majilis deputy Daulet Turlykhanov, requested that the remaining part of his prison term be replaced with a more lenient measure. The court found no grounds for such a decision, Orda.kz reports.
Case materials show that in October 2024, Bolat’s punishment had already been toughened — from a restriction of freedom to imprisonment — after repeated probation violations.
This time, the court once again analyzed the behavior of the convicted and came to the conclusion that there were no positive changes. Bolat did not prove his rehabilitation, which means he must continue to serve his sentence in a medium-security facility, the ruling stated.
The petition was supported by Bolat himself, the victim, and partially by the prosecutor and one of the victims.
The court upheld its position. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
Bolat has previously attempted to seek a lighter punishment. In March 2025, he withdrew a similar request, citing errors in the documents. His defense also alleged misconduct by the colony administration and objected to the publicity around the case.
Bolat is currently serving his sentence for assaulting lawyers Anna and Oleg Chernov, following a dispute with a girl near a shopping center in Almaty.
