A Turkestan City Court has issued a verdict in a case of budget fund embezzlement — 14.9 million tenge, Orda.kz reports.
According to Antikor, the former head of the State Institution "Jasyl Aimaq" under the regional department of Nature Management and Natural Resources, Begasilov, his deputy Yernazarov, lawyer Ainabekova, and businessman Muslimov were found guilty.
The court reports they purchased cheap pesticides and herbicides (products against pests and weeds) that did not meet quality requirements and technical specifications.
Begasilov was ultimately given 2.6 years of imprisonment. Yernazarov, Ainabekova, and Muslimov were given two years of restricted freedom. The convicted were deprived of the right to work in the civil service and quasi-public sector for life.
The verdict has not yet entered into force; the parties have the right to appeal.
