The Medeu District Court of Almaty continues hearings in the case of Olga Abdygapparova, former director of AV Construction LLP, Orda.kz reports.
Background
The case stems from a lawsuit filed by Esentai City equity holders seeking the fulfillment of apartment purchase and construction agreements in the luxury residential complex. According to Abdygapparova’s lawyer, the contracts in question were signed when Yeldos Kospayev’s group effectively controlled AV Construction.
Abdygapparova was appointed interim director during the crisis that followed the criminal investigations into the company. During that time, she renegotiated old contracts but did not conclude new sales.
Among the plaintiffs are Timur Tanashev and Dastan Abizhanov, associates of Kospayev who were previously convicted of corporate raiding.
Abdygapparova is accused of abuse of authority.
Court Denies Petition by Plaintiffs’ Lawyers
At the latest hearing, the court rejected a motion by the lawyers representing Tanashev and Abizhanov, who had requested that their clients be recognized as victims in the case.
The prosecutor stated that, under the indictment, the injured party is AV Construction LLP as a legal entity, and the court upheld this position.
Abdygapparova’s defense team filed several motions, including to lift her pre-trial detention, declare the investigative task force illegal, and recognize procedural delays. Her attorney, Nurlybek Sabitov, pointed out that her house arrest expired on September 8, yet she remains in custody.
The prosecutor and representatives of the injured party opposed the motion.
Case Context
Abdygapparova was arrested in February 2025 in Astana. Her husband, Almas Abdygapparov, is already serving a sentence in the Esentai City case, which is linked to Kospayev’s network.
Previously, AV Construction was controlled by Yeldos Kospayev’s organized crime group, which held up to 75% of the company’s shares through intermediaries. The Abdygapparov family owned about 25%.
Kospayev and several associates were convicted earlier this year for corporate raiding.
The trial of Olga Abdygapparova is ongoing.
