A new container hub has been commissioned in Aqtau ahead of schedule, following an order from President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev issued in September 2023, Orda.kz reports.
The project was implemented by KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Joly, in cooperation with China’s Lianyungang Port and the Aqtau International Sea Trade Port.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Akim of Mangystau Region, Nurdaulet Kilybay; First Vice Mayor of Lianyungang, Ren Dong; Chair of the Board of Samruq-Qazyna, Nurlan Zhakupov; and Chair of the Board of KTZ, Nurlan Sauranbayev.
Representatives of logistics companies and international partners were also present. Participants in the project were recognized with awards.
I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who took part in the project. Development of transit and transport potential is one of the strategic goals of the country. In this direction, Samruq-Qazyna, together with KTZ, is actively working not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad. Over the 10 years of partnership between KTZ and the port of Lianyungang, the Kazakh-Chinese terminal in Lianyungang, the dry port Khorgos Gateway, and now the container hub in Aqtau have been opened. This project is an important step in the development of transport and logistics in Kazakhstan,
said Nurlan Zhakupov.

The hub is expected to enhance Kazakhstan’s transit role along the East–West and North–South corridors. Equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced technologies, it will accelerate container handling operations.
Its opening coincided with the arrival of the 100,000th container from China via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
