More than 500 employees of contractor PSI Services in Atyrau have yet to receive compensation following the cancellation of a planned overhaul at the Kashagan field. Workers at other contracting companies received their payments within a week, Orda.kz reports, citing KTK.

Kashagan undergoes major maintenance regularly, but this year’s overhaul was canceled. Field operator NCOC allocated compensation of 750,000 tenge per worker to the contractors involved.

We arrived for the overhaul in April and were officially hired under contract. But the work was suddenly canceled in July. NCOC began issuing compensation, and almost all the other contractors received the money within a week. We are still waiting, worker Farhat Sagynov said.

Funds Transferred but Workers Still Waiting

The employees contacted the labor inspectorate. State labor inspector Kemel Imangaliyev confirmed that NCOC had already transferred compensation to PSI Services for 532 workers.

PSI Services Deputy Director Timur Hadzhiev attributed the delay to staff turnover and the expiration of the company’s contract. He said the accounting department had first processed payments for employees who had already left the company.

PSI Services has promised to pay all outstanding compensation by August 15.

Around 8,000 contractor employees were initially expected to take part in the Kashagan overhaul. It remains unclear when the maintenance work will be rescheduled.
