The Tulkibas District Court in Turkistan Region has found the Uralskaya Vagonoremontnaya Companiya (UVK) guilty of violating railway safety regulations, Orda.kz reports.
The case follows a June 2024 freight train derailment on the Tulkibas-Arys line. While no one was injured, the court determined that the accident — caused by poor-quality depot repairs — led to irreparable damage to eight freight cars.
Investigations by the Ministry of Transport, CIS railway administrations, and Kazakhstan Temir Joly confirmed UVK’s responsibility. As a result, the company was fined 1.4 million tenge under Kazakhstan’s administrative code.
UVK is part of Globaltrans and is registered in the UAE. Kazakhstani businessman Kairat Itemgenov indirectly owns 26.2% of the company through AQNIET Capital LLP.
