CNNC Plans to Explore and Develop Uranium Deposits in Uzbekistan

On September 2, 2025, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in Beijing with Shen Yanfen, chair of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), Orda.kz reports.
The parties discussed CNNC’s participation in technology transfer, geological exploration, and the development of uranium deposits in Uzbekistan, as well as expanding cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
In 2023, CNNC and Uzbekistan’s Navoiuran signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation in the uranium industry, according to Gazeta.uz.
