CIS Foreign Ministers to Convene in Almaty for First 2025 Meeting

On April 11, Almaty will host the first CIS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the year, Orda.kz reports.
A separate session is also scheduled between the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries.
According to an earlier statement by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, participants will exchange views on key international and regional developments. The agenda also includes preparations for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and enhancing border security.
Also taking place in Almaty on the same day is the eighth meeting of foreign ministers from Russia and Central Asian states — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The discussions will focus on political, economic, and cultural issues and exchange perspectives on major international challenges. They aim to promote greater stability and security across the region.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has already arrived in Kazakhstan.
