The Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS has approved a proposal to host a volunteer forum in Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
The decision was made during the council’s extended session on April 11 in Almaty.
The volunteer forum was one of two main topics discussed in the expanded meeting. Deputy Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan, Aizada Kurmanova, presented the initiative, reminding attendees that President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev first proposed holding the forum in the fall of 2024.
Kazakhstan was suggested as the inaugural host due to its prior experience organizing major volunteer-related events. Future forums would then be held in other CIS countries on a rotating basis.
The foreign ministers approved Kazakhstan’s proposal. Final confirmation is now expected from the heads of state of the CIS member countries.
The second issue addressed during the session was the draft program on border security along the external borders of the CIS for the period 2026–2030.
The Council of Foreign Ministers convened in Almaty on April 11. Ahead of the main meeting, the foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia held separate bilateral talks.
