Chinese company Fufeng Group will construct a large-scale corn processing facility in the Jambyl region of Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
The total project investment is expected to reach $800 million.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, an investment agreement was signed by Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Fufeng Group representative Wang Yandong. Minister Saparov stated that Kazakh authorities would provide full support for the project’s implementation.
At the initial stage, Fufeng Group — via its local entity Shengtai Biotech LLP — plans to invest approximately $350 million. The project involves the creation of an industrial park capable of processing up to one million tons of corn annually, with plans to eventually scale up to five million tons.
The site will include a starch processing facility, three biofermentation plants, a coal-powered thermal energy plant, and a wastewater treatment plant. In later phases, production units for liquid ammonia and hydrochloric acid are also planned.
The industrial park will focus on producing a range of corn-based feed additives for export to Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
The commissioning of production facilities is scheduled for 2029. By 2032, processing volumes are expected to reach five million tons of corn per year. In preparation for the launch, the investor plans to purchase 500,000 tons of corn in 2025, the Ministry stated.
