A Chinese company has proposed building a modern seaport and logistics center in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau Region, with full project financing to come from China, Orda.kz reports, citing the regional akimat.
The initiative aims to transform the Port of Aqtau into a key transit hub for Eurasia, maximizing the region's role in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Mangystau regional government and Heilongjiang-based Zhongyun International Industrial Company. Regional governor Nurdaulet Kilybay pledged full administrative support for what he called a strategically important project.
The proposal follows an April visit to the region by Yu Boyan, head of Zhongyun Guoji and Goyu Wuchang groups, who first expressed interest in developing a logistics hub in western Kazakhstan.
