Kazakhstan’s Ecology Minister Yerlan Nyssanbayev signed an investment deal on August 29 with Junxin Environmental Protection (Almaty) to build a waste-to-energy plant in Almaty, Orda.kz reports.
The facility will process at least 1,600 tons of waste daily, generating 60 MW of electricity. Investment is estimated at 145 billion tenge.
According to the ministry, the project will use European-standard technology with automated emissions monitoring, create about 700 temporary jobs during construction, and 120 permanent jobs after launch.
Hunan Junxin, founded in 2011, specializes in waste-to-energy projects and has processed 3.2 million tons of waste in China over the past year.
The company is now expanding in Central Asia, including three projects in Kyrgyzstan.
