The initiative to boost oil deliveries was put forward by the Chinese side, Orda.kz reports.
According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Moscow is ready to implement the proposal. To expand export volumes through Kazakhstan, Transneft will determine the necessary technical measures.
Under a directive from the Russian government, the maximum volume of oil deliveries to western regions of China may increase from 10 to 12.5 million tons per year. The agreement has also been extended through 2034.
The growth in Russian oil exports to China comes as Beijing has nearly phased out its purchases of U.S. energy resources.
