China Buying up Kazakhstan's wheat: Exports Increase 15x
Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev presented data on Kazakhstani grain's export markets at a government meeting, Orda.kz reports.
As Kairat Torebayev noted, Kazakhstan's grain exports to China increased by 5.5 times last year to 1.43 million tons. Wheat is of the most significant interest to the Chinese market.
Wheat exports to China have increased significantly, almost 15 times the previous year's figure. This demonstrates the possibility of increasing supplies to China and Asian countries to 1.6 million tons,
the vice minister clarified.
The minister believes that, given the increasing global demand for grain and decreasing harvests in several countries, domestic suppliers are interested in the markets of European Union countries such as Italy, Latvia, Spain, and others. Solving the issue of transiting Kazakhstan's wheat through the Russian Federation's territory to Türkiye and Middle Eastern countries is also necessary.
Kazakhstan's wheat brand will be promoted and intensified in new markets: Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia.
On October 18, Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and Deng Yiwu, Chair of the Board of China Grain Reserves Group Ltd., discussed Chinese companies' purchases of Kazakhstan's grain.
