A new lawsuit has been filed against Alexander Belovich, a prominent businessman and owner of the Bazis group of companies. The claim comes from his former stepdaughter, Lara Ertl, Orda.kz reports.
Lawyer Saule Kobzhanova, representing Lara and her mother Liliya Anoshina, said the case stems from threats allegedly made by Belovich against the women.
Police have already opened a criminal investigation.
According to Kobzhanova, Belovich threatened to kill three women — herself, her client, and Ertl. She claims that Ertl managed to record the threats during a private meeting, and the file has since been handed over to investigators.
“Not stopping at the fake criminal case, he moved on to direct threats,” Kobzhanova stated.
She added that the harassment began after a press conference where the women spoke publicly about pressure from Belovich.
The conflict arises against the backdrop of Belovich’s long-running dispute with his ex-wife, Liliya Anoshina.
Kobzhanova alleges that Belovich’s name appeared in a bribery case involving nearly $1 million connected to the signing of acts worth tens of billions of tenge. However, Belovich himself was never formally charged.
Kobzhanova also maintains that the case brought against Anoshina was fabricated. The allegations were based on anonymous emails supposedly written in her name.
These emails were sent from the Swiss service ProtonMail, which she has never used. They contained insults and expressions not characteristic of her. We are demanding the IP address of the sender be identified, the lawyer explained.
Particular attention has been drawn to the case of Anoshina’s assistant, 50-year-old Tatyana Belova, who has been held in pre-trial detention for more than a year despite serious health issues.
According to Kobzhanova, Belova underwent spinal surgery and remains unwell, making her detention a direct consequence of the conflict with Belovich.
Meanwhile, Belovich has filed a counterclaim against Anoshina and Kobzhanova, seeking 20 million tenge in damages for “reputational losses” — 10 million from each woman.
The hearing was originally scheduled for August 19.
According to Kobzhanova, it was postponed when Belovich’s representative submitted a request for adjournment just three hours before the session.
Earlier, it was reported that Belovich’s construction firm, Bazis Construction, part of the Bazis group, has also been involved in another drawn-out legal dispute.
Subcontractor Ravil Abashidze of Kaskelen has spent three years unsuccessfully trying to recover nearly 6 million tenge from the company under a contract for the construction of a road junction in the Qyzylorda region. With penalties and an unreturned deposit, the amount has grown to 31.6 million tenge.
