Bishkek: Security Forces Conducted Searches in Yandex.Taxi Office
On November 29, the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan searched the offices of Yandex Taxi and its partners in a criminal case concerning large-scale tax evasion, Orda.kz reports.
The State Committee for National Security claims Yandex.Taxi and its partners, despite “repeated measures by the Antimonopoly Regulation Service,” have unreasonably raised rates for drivers of private taxi services.
The hike spurred taxi services to rise in price.
The committee said all those involved would be held accountable. Meanwhile, the company stated that it fully complies with the law, writes 24.kg.
It also added that they are unaware of what measures, repeatedly taken by the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, are being referred to.
We regularly receive various requests from the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, which we process in the manner prescribed by law. In confirmation of our intentions to openly cooperate, we and the Antimonopoly Regulation Service signed a corresponding memorandum, Yandex.Taxi said.
The company claims that the fee for access to the service starts at 10 percent and does not exceed 17 percent in the higher tariffs in the capital, including VAT.
The service's fee has not changed in the country since February 2023, the company notes.
Yandex Taxi reported that a significant portion of the income is sent to Kyrgyzstan as investments.
The company continues to operate and has stated that it will exercise legal recourse and defend its reputation.
