Former Minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who is serving a prison sentence for murder, transferred ownership of his property to others in an apparent attempt to reduce child support payments for his three children, reports Orda.kz.
Lawyer Bibinur Muratova, representing Bishimbayev’s former spouse, Nazim Kakharman, described the events.
In 2020, Bishimbayev and Kakharman signed an agreement establishing child support payments. Recently, Bishimbayev claimed his financial situation had changed, reportedly attempting to lower the amount he was paying.
According to the regulatory resolution, this is considered one of the grounds, but not an unconditional ground for changing (the amount of child support). During the trial, we established that he, it turns out, has property. We identified the property that he had during the trial in the criminal case, said Muratova.
According to her, Bishimbayev had registered his assets under the names of other individuals through gift agreements. Despite this, the court viewed the actions as an attempt to conceal his wealth and avoid full child support obligations.
Referring to the fact that his financial situation had changed, he asked to reduce the amount of child support. I cannot announce the amount, but I can say that he asked to reduce the amount several times, Muratova added.
The court rejected his arguments. He remains obligated to pay child support until all three children reach adulthood.
Bishimbayev and Kakharman were married for 14 years. He is currently serving a sentence for killing his partner, Saltanat Nukenova.
