Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of Armenia's "I Have Honor" opposition faction, has criticized Azerbaijan's strategic exploitation, Orda reports, citing News Armenia.
The exploitation allegedly utilized regional tensions and Armenia's foreign policy weaknesses.
In a Facebook post, he outlined how Azerbaijan has maximized its relationship with Russia during this period of instability.
He suggested that while some Russian observers link the anti-Russian sentiment to Western interference, citing recent visits by American and British intelligence chiefs to Azerbaijan, the situation might stem from the Aliyev family's overreaching ambitions.
Discussing Azerbaijan's diplomatic strategy, Abrahamyan explained:
Politically, especially in recent decades, Azerbaijan's great desire to get closer to Russia, as well as ingratiation, pursue two main goals: to gain balance in the event of a conflict with Armenia and loyalty during the operations carried out against Artsakh (Nagorny-Karabakh - Ed.) after 2020.
Abrahamyan claims Azerbaijan's leadership now sees itself as a regional power, emboldened to challenge major global players.
This attitude extends beyond their dealings with Russia to their interactions with the EU and US.
He concluded with sharp criticism of Azerbaijan and Armenia's current leadership:
And this is manifested not only in relations with Russia, but also with the EU and even the US. Under the influence of victory and glory, Baku sometimes loses its sense of adequacy, which cannot go unpunished by main actors. At the same time, Armenia does not have an acting government that corresponds to the current situation. Even in such situations, it is in the sphere of Turkish-Azerbaijani whims.
