BAKAD Adopts Barrier-Free Toll System with Digital Monitoring

The Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD) is moving to a barrier-free system, replacing traditional toll gates with a network of 24 control arches and over 100 cameras for license plate recognition, reports Orda.kz.
The Committee for Highways has announced that motorists can pay tolls before their journey or within a seven-day window after using the road, with payments accessible through banking applications.
The fee structure is set at 241.5 tenge for passenger vehicles, while trucks will pay between 414 and 2,484 tenge based on their weight capacity.
Special rates are available for residents of adjacent districts (Karasay, Ili, and Talgar):
- Personal vehicles: 1,725 tenge monthly or 20,700 tenge annually
- Commercial vehicles and buses: ranging from 8,625 tenge monthly to 351,900 tenge yearly
