Baikonur: Russia Continues to Pay Full Rent

Kazakhstan is gradually withdrawing parts of the Baikonur Cosmodrome from lease, yet Russia continues to pay the full rental amount, Orda.kz reports.
Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev stated that Kazakhstan has no intention of revising the annual lease payment.
According to him, the current arrangement remains economically favorable.
"This issue is not being discussed today. We believe that $115 million is a completely adequate amount," the Minister said.
He added that even with dollar inflation, the payments are still profitable for Kazakhstan:
Yes, there is inflation in dollars, but at the same time, inflation in tenge is higher, and the dollar exchange rate is supported. All expenses incurred by the Kazakh side are made in the national currency. Therefore, this amount, taking into account all factors, remains profitable for Kazakhstan,
Madiyev explained.
The Minister also noted that while Kazakhstan is gradually withdrawing some areas of the cosmodrome from the lease, the rental amount remains the same, making the agreement even more beneficial for the country.
