Azerbaijani Company Proposes Caspian–Black Sea Underground Tunnel Project

The Azerbaijani company ADOG, in partnership with the International Port of Zira, has suggested building an underground tunnel between the two seas, Orda.kz reports.
This proposal was detailed in an official appeal signed by Honored Engineer Musa Suleymanov.
The project envisions constructing a 10-meter-diameter water channel, through which water from the Black Sea would flow by gravity into the Caspian Sea, taking advantage of the natural sea-level difference.
The primary goal is to stabilize the Caspian Sea’s water level, which has been falling sharply in recent years. This decline risks causing serious environmental, economic, and infrastructure challenges for all coastal nations, including Kazakhstan.
According to the company, it is already prepared to begin work on a feasibility study and is urging Azerbaijani authorities to consider the project at the national level.
