The Recovered Asset Management Company (CMRA) earned more than 3.5 million tenge from the latest online auction of items confiscated from the mansion of former National Security Committee head Karim Massimov, reports Orda.kz.
The auction, held on October 7, featured ten lots — seven of which were sold. The highest-priced item was a saber in a scabbard with a bone-inlaid hilt and chain, sold for 930,020 tenge. Although the starting price matched the sale price, its earlier appraisal exceeded 1.3 million tenge.

Other items included a saber with yellow metal detailing (837,000 tenge) and a steel dagger in a sheath (185,000 tenge).
Luxury fountain pens drew notable interest: a Montegrappa made of 925 sterling silver sold for 440,000 tenge, while a Visconti pen engraved with verses from the Quran fetched 402,000 tenge.
Several collectible coins — including those from the Alma Otany, Baiterek, and Map of Kazakhstan series — sold for nearly 280,000 tenge. A leather belt and additional coin sets, such as The Golden Man and Fauna of Kazakhstan, went unsold.
Earlier, CMRA sold another portion of Massimov’s property for 5.5 million tenge. The top lot was a Queen Elizabeth II gold coin featuring a kangaroo, which rose from a starting price of 3.2 million to 4.3 million tenge.
During searches of Massimov’s Astana mansion, authorities discovered weapons, antiques, gold bars, watches, paintings, and millions in cash, along with 11 luxury vehicles. The nearly 2,900-square-meter residence also included a pool, sauna, disco bar, karaoke area, and private stage, with the property valued at over 1.5 billion tenge.
Massimov was arrested in January 2022 on treason charges and sentenced in April 2023 to 18 years in prison with asset confiscation.
