In Atyrau Region, the local antimonopoly authority has accused the Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ) of overcharging for its services, Orda.kz reports.
According to Assel Adieva, deputy head of the regional department of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition, the cost of oil processing at the plant rose by 31% between 2021 and 2023.
"An investigation into the establishment of a monopolistically high price has already been completed," she stated.
The refinery disagrees with the findings and has initiated an administrative appeal.
In response to Orda.kz’s request, the ANPZ press service declined to comment on the situation.
