Atyrau Court Sentences Man to Life for Killing NCOC Employee

The trial over the killing of Bibigul Shpanova, an employee of the oil company NCOC, has concluded in Atyrau, Orda.kz reports.
The defendant, 38-year-old Arman Zhetpisov, had a prior criminal record and was unemployed at the time. He often presented himself as a repairman.
Background
The incident occurred in the spring at the French Quarter residential complex, where Shpanova lived. She had approached Zhetpisov about fixing household issues, but later suspected she had been deceived and demanded her money back.
According to investigators, he went to her apartment, assaulted her, stabbed her 17 times, and took her belongings before leaving in her car.
Zhetpisov attempted to flee but was detained in the Mangystau region after a traffic accident. The victim’s belongings were found in his possession.
The Verdict
During the closed trial, prosecutors presented forensic evidence and surveillance footage that tied him to the crime. Judge Zarema Khamidullina handed down a life sentence to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.
Family members of Shpanova reacted with both tears and applause as the verdict was read.
