Astana Akim Zhenis Kassymbek reported on the LRT construction to President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev, reports Orda.
In December last year, Astana approved a comprehensive transport system development program.
Against the background of increasing automobile traffic, attention is focused on developing public transport and increasing road capacity. The priority is the construction of new bridges and the improvement of parking spaces.
1,600 buses operate daily on city routes. Over two years, the capital's public transport fleet has been renewed by 45%. Active work continues in the city to create a modern and ecological appearance, said Kassymbek.
The LRT construction is promised to be completed in the summer. The first trains will arrive in September, and testing will begin.
