Astana: Theft Ring Uncovered at Major Retail Chain

A large-scale theft operation targeting one of Kazakhstan's biggest retail chains has been discovered in Astana, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that the criminal group operated for two years, exploiting the chain's electronic sales system in collaboration with former employees.
The stolen electronics were then resold across various Kazakh cities, causing losses exceeding 450 million tenge.
In a joint operation, police and prosecutors seized 120 pieces of equipment, including numerous high-end smartphones, substantial cash, and various caliber traumatic weapons and ammunition.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted into theft and fraud on an especially large scale,reported the representative of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kuandyk Alpys.
