The Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport has returned to city ownership as its management contract with a UAE company ends, Orda.kz reports.
According to the capital's administration, the trust management agreement with Terminals Astana Airport Management LLC, a subsidiary of UAE-based Terminals Holding, expired on January 7, 2025.
The contract had been in effect since November 7, 2023.
Following the expiration, full ownership of the airport - representing 100% of its shares - has transferred to Astana as municipal property. City officials are now working on drafting a new trust management agreement between the Akimat and Terminals Astana Airport Management LLC.
