Ashgabat Responds to Media Report on Internet Access

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has issued a formal response following a report by Ukraine’s Freedom TV channel that described the country as “closed off,” particularly about Internet access, Orda.kz reports.
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry called the remarks “biased” and “inconsistent with reality,” stating that Freedom journalists lack direct knowledge of the situation on the ground and have never engaged with Turkmen authorities or local media professionals.
The Ministry also recalled previous reports it considered inaccurate and noted that Turkmenistan has long-standing economic ties with Ukraine, including major gas supplies and infrastructure projects carried out by Ukrainian companies, some of which are ongoing.
All this is happening against the backdrop of many years of economic and humanitarian support that Turkmenistan has provided to the Ukrainian people, the Ministry stated.
The Foreign Ministry added that it has asked Ukrainian authorities to prevent similar incidents going forward.
The Turkmen side demands that the relevant state bodies of Ukraine... take the necessary measures to ensure that the above-mentioned incidents do not recur in the future, the statement read.
