Armenian MoD Denies Border Fire Claims, Reaffirms Call for Joint Investigation Mechanism
On April 10, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence reported that at 20:55 units of the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire with small arms from positions near the Seyrak Mesha settlement in the Tovuzgala region, targeting Azerbaijani Army positions.
Azerbaijani forces stated that they responded with “adequate retaliatory measures.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence of Armenia denied the allegation, stating that the report “does not correspond to reality” and reaffirmed its willingness to investigate the incident if credible evidence is provided.
The Armenian side emphasized the earlier proposal by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to establish a joint Armenia–Azerbaijan mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations.
According to Armenian officials, Azerbaijan has yet to respond to this initiative.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia reaffirms that, in accordance with the position of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, it stands ready to investigate the facts supporting the statement issued by the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, should they be provided to the Republic of Armenia.,
