Public backlash recently erupted over remarks by Aqtobe maslikhat deputy Vidadi Farzaliyev, who openly admitted in a conversation with a Baitak party representative that he helps relatives secure government tenders, Orda.kz reports.
The video of the exchange, posted on Instagram by Baitak’s Aktobe branch, shows Farzaliyev — an AMANAT party member and current MP — essentially confirming his involvement in schemes favoring relatives.
Despite the admission, on August 11 the Commission on Deputy Ethics of the city maslikhat decided to close the case without disciplinary measures.
The AMANAT regional branch responded cautiously:
If the facts of abuse of office by the deputy are confirmed, the issue of bringing Vidadi Farzaliyev to party responsibility will be considered. In general, AMANAT strictly monitors compliance with the party Charter, as well as the rules of conduct for party members.
Meanwhile, the lack of action has fueled public outrage, as law enforcement has so far refrained from addressing the deputy’s apparent confession of corruption.
