Aqtobe authorities are planning to rename several streets, replacing Soviet-era names with traditional Kazakh toponyms and honoring prominent Kazakh figures, Orda.kz reports.
The proposal is outlined in a draft resolution by the Aqtobe region Akimat, published on March 17 on the open regulatory legal acts portal. Public discussions will continue until April 4.
Under the plan, Kirpichnaya Street would be renamed after Roza Baglanova, Vagonnaya Street would become Baygazy, and Komsomolskaya Street would be renamed Akterek. Additionally, streets such as Novatorov and Stantsionnaya will receive names reflecting Kazakh historical figures and landmarks.
