Aqtau Residents Speak Out About Lack of Water
In Aqtau, the lack of water has once again forced residents to take to the streets, reports an Orda correspondent.
About 40 Ayraqty residential complex residents voiced their dissatisfaction last night, demanding an explanation from the local authorities as to why regular disconnections of drinking water have not been resolved after several months.
We've been living without water for a whole year. We waited patiently, but when our patience ran out, we went out. Before, at least they gave us water on schedule, we managed to collect water and sat quietly. The water truck came, and we were happy with that. But then the water stopped reaching us altogether, not a drop from the tap, the pumps burned out, and now we've reached such a state that we have to go to the Akimat,
Zharkynai Azhigali, a resident of the Airakty residential complex, told Orda.kz.
Representatives of the city Akimat met with the residents, calling for patience and pledging to solve the problem soon.
However, in the morning, the residents gathered again, but this time near the building of the Mangystau region Akimat.
Akim of Aqtau, Baipakov, head of the energy and housing and communal services department B.Kartbayev, head of the energy and housing and communal services department Tulyakov, head of the housing and communal services department Zhakypov, and chief specialist of the housing inspection department Ybrai met with residents in front of the regional Akimat. After the meeting, the residents peacefully dispersed,
local authorities said.
Later, Zharkynay Azhigali clarified that officials invited several residential complex residents to a desalination plant tour. They were shown how the enterprise plans to increase its capacity to provide the city with water.
People still doubt that this will solve the problem of the lack of water in their apartments.
Since the beginning of summer, water supply interruptions have increased in Aqtau.
Aqtau residents periodically speak out due to the lack of water in their apartments.
The city authorities cite a lack of capacity on the part of the Mangystau Energy Plant (MAEK), which desalinates water from the Caspian Sea.
In turn, the company's management accuses the Akimat of allowing officials to allow rapid city development, for which the capacity of the desalination plants was not designed.
