In Aqmola Region, a court sentenced the head of the Housing and Utilities Department and a contractor company director for orchestrating fake boiler repairs and embezzling over 8 million tenge, reports Orda.kz.
In 2022, Aqol District's Housing Department contracted a private company for boiler repairs.
The contractor falsified documents, claiming to have installed three heating boilers that were never installed. The official knowingly signed these documents and approved payment, enabling illegal enrichment.
The court considered mitigating circumstances: sincere remorse, admission of guilt, having young children, and damage compensation. The Housing Department head's aggravating factor was violation of oath, stated the Aqmola Regional Court's press service.
The official received 3.5 years of restricted freedom and a lifetime ban from civil service.
The company director received the same sentence with bans on management and financial roles.
The verdict has not yet taken legal effect.
