The appellate court has issued its ruling in the case involving Arman Dzhumageldiev, known as Wild Arman, former deputy Kairat Kudaibergen, and former KNB Fifth Department head Ruslan Iskakov, Orda.kz reports.
Judges declined to reduce the men’s sentences, leaving the original verdict unchanged.
In January, the trio was convicted of organizing and participating in mass riots, kidnapping, and illegal possession of weapons.
Dzhumageldiev received 20 years, Kudaibergen eight years, and Iskakov 15 years behind bars.
Defense attorney Oleg Chernov stated that he does not accept the ruling.
The appellate court failed to re-examine the arguments we presented, which would have led to the overturning or modification of the trial court’s verdict. We will see clarifications on the violations we identified in the final ruling. However, the court failed to cite any of them in its clarification. Although, in my opinion, there were numerous violations, including procedural ones. We disagree with the appellate court’s decision and the trial court’s verdict,
Chernov told Orda.kz.
