Anti-Corruption Investigator Arrested for Alleged Bribe in Health Insurance Fund Case

Before his arrest, the Anti-Corruption Service officer had been handling the case against former Deputy Chair of the Health Insurance Fund, Galymzhan Abilov, Orda.kz reports.
An investigator from the East Kazakhstan Region Anti-Corruption Department was detained on June 24.
Based on the results of operational investigative measures, the Agency exposed an investigator of the Anti-Corruption Service for the East Kazakhstan region, who, in a criminal case he was investigating, received a bribe from a participant in the process for mitigating the severity of the alleged qualification of the acts committed,
Antikor representative Daniyar Bigaidarov said at yesteday's briefing.
The investigator has been placed in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
Abilov, meanwhile, is suspected of embezzling state funds allocated for medical treatment in the East Kazakhstan Region.
