As part of Almaty’s housing renovation program, 676 dilapidated houses are set to be demolished — starting with those located directly on tectonic fault lines, Orda.kz reports.
Speaking at a public meeting, Almaty Akim Yerbolat Dosayev noted that the majority of the unsafe housing —585 houses — is concentrated in the Turksib district.
Dosayev also outlined plans for significant urban improvements, including upgrades to the Big Almaty Canal and the Baum Grove. The grove will be divided into three distinct zones: active, recreational, and ecological. New beaches and leisure areas are also planned along the BAC.
