In a petition, residents accuse the developer of violating public hearings and demand a park instead of a 40-story complex, Orda.kz reports.
The conflict over the RAMS Beyond Almaty high-rise project continues in Almaty. Locals have called for construction to be halted immediately and for the site at the intersection of Timiryazev and Seifullin streets to be preserved as a green zone.
The petition, initiated by residents, has already been sent to the city akimat.
The area is already overloaded - dense development, lack of parks, parking shortage and an overloaded transport system. The additional burden of a 40-story residential building and five 10-story buildings will only make the situation worse, the appeal reads.
Residents also cited serious violations of the public hearing process: many locals were not informed, and protocols were never published. The petition stresses that the project contradicts restrictions on high-rise construction above nine floors previously approved by the authorities.
The public demands that the site be returned to green zone status and that the project be relocated — for example, below Abay Avenue or to areas lacking business infrastructure.
