Carlsberg Group and PepsiCo plan to construct a new soft drink production facility in the Almaty region, with the project cost expected to exceed $250 million, Orda.kz reports.
The plans were discussed on May 23 during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar and Danish Ambassador Jesper Wahr. According to the Danish side, the investment will lead to the creation of an enterprise in Kazakhstan that will provide 500 new jobs.
The creation of a high-tech production complex will significantly increase the added value of agricultural products, stimulate the development of related industries, create a stable sales market for domestic producers, and strengthen the country’s export potential,
the government press service stated.
Carlsberg Group is a strategic partner of PepsiCo. Starting January 1, 2026, Carlsberg will receive a franchise for soft drink production in Kazakhstan.
The company had previously announced it would invest over €100 million in the project by the end of 2024.
The day before, Vice Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov named Pepsi among the international brands planning to localize production in Kazakhstan soon.
