The Almaty Police Department has issued a statement explaining the detention of activists at the courthouse, Orda reports.
The department stated that those detained interfered with court operations and ignored lawful requests:
In the foyer of the building, a group of citizens disrupted public order by obstructing court visitors. They failed to comply with lawful demands to cease their actions, the statement reads.
Six people were taken to the Nauryzbay District Police Department, where they were charged under Article 434 of the Administrative Code of Kazakhstan — "petty hooliganism."
Four were fined. Maria Kochneva, Temirlan’s partner, was released. Azattyq reports that she was also fined. Another woman from the group was also released after she began feeling unwell — an ambulance was called.
