Almaty Court Drops Fraud Case Against Sergeant Who Promised Military Position for Money

An Almaty military court has terminated criminal proceedings against a military unit sergeant accused of fraud, Orda.kz reports.
Investigators found that the sergeant had offered an acquaintance a position as a unit section commander for 500,000 tenge. The victim transferred the money, unaware it was a fraudulent scheme.
The defendant admitted guilt and fully compensated for the damages. The Almaty Garrison Court, after hearing from all parties and the prosecutor's conclusions, decided to release the sergeant from criminal liability.
The court's decision has entered into legal force.
