The Almaty Aviation Transport Prosecutor filed an appeal on September 12 against the decision of the Aqtau Specialized Court, Orda.kz reports.
The court had dismissed a case against Yerbolat Abdirov involving a protocol on petty hooliganism at Almaty airport.
Now the legality of the verdict and the prosecutor's arguments will be considered by the Manystau Regional Court. While the internal investigation is underway, Abdirov has been temporarily suspended from his post on the basis of the Law on Law Enforcement Service. His future career depends on the results of the investigation, the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office reported.
The scandal broke out on September 9 at Almaty airport, when Abdirov was detained for alleged drunken disorderly conduct, foul language, and harassment of passengers — accusations he denied.
At a court hearing on September 10, the Sait brothers, Abdirov's relatives, testified that he was sober and had not sworn.
The court found no evidence of a violation and dismissed the case.
