Almaty and Shanghai Agree on Projects Worth More Than 1.2 Trillion Tenge

The heads of Almaty and Shanghai agreed to implement joint investment projects worth more than 2.7 billion US dollars, or about 1.2 trillion tenge, Orda.kz reports.
This was announced by the press service of the Almaty akimat following a business forum held in the city. Kazakhstani and Chinese companies took part in direct negotiations and signed memoranda and agreements on future cooperation.
We are carefully studying Shanghai’s experience in the integrated development of urban areas and the introduction of modern transport solutions. Almaty is interested in attracting Shanghai construction companies, architectural bureaus and engineering organisations to major projects in the city.Almaty akim Darkhan Satybaldy said.
He added that around 6,000 companies with Chinese participation are already operating in Almaty.
Shanghai mayor Gong Zheng said he plans to expand cooperation with Almaty in finance, mechanical engineering, logistics and green energy, as well as strengthen ties in innovation and high technology.
Dozens of companies took part in the forum, including Bank of China (Shanghai Branch), ZPEC, Shanghai VOSTOSUN, Shanghai Kaiquan Pump, Shanghai Dianeng Electric, Yusheng Group, SAIC Motor, Shanghai Construction Group, ORG Technology, Xizi Elevator and YTO Express, as well as representatives of the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
