Almaty has been officially included in the online rating of “The Most Polluted Large Cities in the World,” conducted by the international Swiss company IQAir, Orda.kz reports.
At the time of its fifth place, Almaty’s average AQI (Air Quality Index) was 169, which is classified as an ‘unhealthy’ level of pollution, IQAir reported.
Almaty residents can compare the air quality in their city with other major cities in the world in real-time.
The rating is updated every hour, allowing you to track real-time air quality changes.
The World's Largest Cities Index includes about 120 megacities known around the world. Cities are ranked by their Air Quality Index (AQI), which is calculated based on data collected from thousands of monitoring stations and sensors. These stations are run by government agencies, research institutes, NGOs, companies and volunteers, added IQAir.
