On the evening of November 13, Orda.kz received complaints from residents of Almaty’s Alatau district. The power went out the previous night, and as of today, heating has not yet been restored.
"The radiators were cold, there was no hot water. They only supplied water," residents told Orda.kz.
According to officials, an incident occurred at Thermal Power Plant No. 2, where high-voltage lines were damaged.
As a result, several large neighborhoods were left without electricity, including Aqbulaq, Algabas, Akkent, Sayaly, Terekty, Gazhayyp, Koksay, Nurkent, Daraboz, Zerdeli, and the block between Raimbek, Momyshuly, and Monkebi Streets.
On November 13, AZhK stated that power would be fully restored by 11:00 p.m., but this deadline was not met.
Only part of the district has since been reconnected.
Power grid operators say the outage is serious. It's unclear when the power will be restored, residents reported
Mobile connectivity in the affected areas has also been unstable.
All of Almaty’s combined heat and power plants are operated by JSC Almaty Electric Stations, a subsidiary of Samruq-Energy.
