Aksu Plant Pays 854 Million Tenge Fine for Air Pollution

The Aksu Ferroalloy Plant, a branch of JSC TNK Kazchrome, has paid more than 850 million tenge in fines for exceeding air pollution limits, Orda.kz reports, citing the Department of Ecology of the Pavlodar Region.
The violations were identified during a joint inspection by environmental authorities and prosecutors. From January to April of this year, the plant released 663.67 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere over the permitted levels.
The violations were confirmed by the data of industrial environmental control and tax reporting. For this, the enterprise was brought to administrative responsibility under Article 328 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
the Department of Ecology stated.
The fine amounted to 854 million tenge and has already been fully paid to the state budget, the department noted.
Aksu Ferroalloy Plant operates under JSC TNK Kazchrome, which is part of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG).
