A possible accomplice in the homicide of Aishat Baymurodova, a native of Chechnya, has been identified in Armenia, Orda.kz reports, citing The Caucasusian Knot.
Baymurodova had fled to Armenia to escape domestic violence but had also publicly criticized the Kadyrov government.
According to Ostorozhno, Novosti, 30-year-old Chechen native Said-Khamzat Baysarov was captured on surveillance cameras on Demirchyan Street in Yerevan shortly after Baymurodova’s killing. Together with Karina Iminova, who had arranged to meet Aishat, Baysarov left the apartment where the young woman was later found dead.
In December 2018, Said-Khamzat Baysarov was arrested over a case involving the financing of the Islamic State,* banned in Kazakhstan. A year later, the charges were dropped. He has also appeared in criminal cases involving robbery and drunk driving. His father is reportedly a businessman in Grozny.
Karina Iminova and Said-Khamzat Baysarov were able to leave Armenia and have not been declared wanted, writes Ostorozhno, Novosti.
The other day, news surfaced that a petition urging Armenian authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the killing gathered over 1,000 signatures on Change.org.
